INTERNSHIPS AT RICAN - AVAILABLE
|
"My internship experience at RICAN was very valuable to me as a Health Policy and Management major. Being a part of RICAN, I saw firsthand the outreach that they do in the Rhode Island community. Participating in health fairs that RICAN put on, or was a part of, allowed me to participate in interacting with the community. Working alongside members of RICAN in various projects, I saw the dedication and passion they put into helping others. It was also interesting learning about the clinical side of cancer education, and the attention RICAN paid to accuracy, which was a huge part of providing resources to the public. Also, as part of my internship responsibilities at RICAN, I compiled a nutrition fact sheet for cancer patients and their families. Seeing the inner workings of RICAN, I recognized how involved they were with the community of the state at so many levels, including the health department, lawmakers, and physicians. Their continued success depends on the support of the community that they help. I came away from this experience with increased knowledge of cancer education, and an understanding of its important contribution to Rhode Island." ~~ Michelle, Senior, Providence College - 2007 Internship
