Sheldon Whitehouse, Esq. Named Chairman of Rhode Island Cancer Council Board of Directors
Pawtucket, Rhode Island - March 23, 2004 - The Rhode Island Cancer Council announces the election of Sheldon Whitehouse, former Rhode Island Attorney General,
as chairman of the board of directors. Whitehouse notes that both of his parents died of cancer and says, "I am honored to support efforts to combat this deadly
disease. For many people, every day, this is a battle that we win; but we need to win more often."
Whitehouse is a partner in the law firm of Edwards and Angell. He is admitted to the bar in Rhode Island and to the U.S. Supreme Court and formally served as United
States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island. He practices in the areas of civil, regulatory and appellate litigation in state and federal courts.
He and his family reside in Providence.
The Rhode Island Cancer Council, established in 1999, is a state supported community program whose mission is to help lower cancer's toll in Rhode Island. Since our
inception, we have helped thousands of Rhode Islanders find vital resources to deal with their cancer, learn what can be done to prevent cancer and ways to detect it
