What Is The Rhode Island Cancer Council (RICAN)?

The Rhode Island Cancer Council, established in 1999, is a community action program where mission is to help lower cancer's toll in our State.

Since our opening, we have helped thousand of Rhode Islanders to find resources vital to deal with their can be done to prevent cancer and ways to detect it early.

The Rhode Island Cancer Council achieves its mission by providing programs in Public Education, Education, and Public Information. All our programs are FREE.

Individual requests for assistance have included, but are not limited to:

• Easy to read information on specific cancers
  
• Help with finding financial and/or pharmaceutical assistance
  
• Finding smoking cessation programs
  
• Nutritional supplements
  
• Low cost/no cost screening services for those who qualify: Breast Mammogram, Colonoscopy, Total Skin examinations, PSA
