Sheldon Whitehouse
Sheldon is the former Attorney General of Rhode Island and prior to that, by appointment of the President of the United States, served as United States Attorney
for the District of Rhode Island. In addition, he has served as Rhode Island's Director of Business Regulation, and as Policy Director and Executive Counsel to the
Governor of Rhode Island. He practices in the areas of civil, regulatory and appellate litigation in state and federal courts and problem-solving and reform in
government and business.

Argued Almond v. Rhode Island Lottery Commission (the "separation of powers case") in the Rhode Island Supreme Court.
Founded Rhode Island Quality Institute for health care.
Supervised litigation and argued dispositive motions in Rhode Island ex rel. Whitehouse v. Lead Industries Association et al.
Supervised first public corruption wire tap investigation by state police.
As United States Attorney:
Argued nine cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Negotiated the largest fine paid in Rhode Island history in the oil spill case, United States v. Eklof Marine Corp.
Commenced the investigation into municipal corruption that became "Plunder Dome."
As Executive Counsel/Policy Director to the Governor:
Supervised drafting of "DEPCO" statute creating the agency that resolved Rhode Island's banking crisis.
Drafted, negotiated and implemented comprehensive reform of the State's workers' compensation system; savings over $1 billion to date.
Led lawsuits that opened State pension records and established governor's emergency fiscal authority.
