Douglas R. Nani, Esq.
Like many Rhode Islanders, Mr. Nani has unfortunately been exposed to family members and friends afflicted with cancer for as long as he can remember. Upon
graduating law school and settling back in Rhode Island, he performed volunteer work for the Rhode Island Division of the American Cancer Society. In the spring
of 1999, his father, Ronald H. Nani, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Mr. Nani and his family attempted to help his father fight the cancer with all possible
methods. As is all too often the case, the cancer was beyond the control of medicine and Ron Nani passed away. The experience of observing his father battle
cancer made Mr. Nani realize the dire need for continued advancement in caring for the cancer patient. As a layman, Mr. Nani tries to bring the perspective of
the patient and family member to the work of the medical professionals in their quest to conquer cancer.
In addition to his role as a member of the Rhode Island Cancer Council, Mr. Nani is active in the community as a board member of Rhode Island Meals on Wheels
and an incorporator of the Providence Foundation. He is a member of the Rhode Island and District of Columbia Bar Associations. In addition, he serves on the
Probate and Trust Committee and the Business Organizations Committee for the R.I. Bar Association. Mr. Nani has published many professional articles relating to
law and investments.
Mr. Nani is a graduate of Moses Brown School, Providence, RI, 1981; Boston College, Carroll School of Management, BS in accounting 1985, Chestnut Hill,
Massachusetts, and the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, Washington DC, Juris Doctor, 1989.
Presently, Mr. Nani is a Vice President of Investments with Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. in Providence, RI. He resides in East Greenwich, RI, with his wife,
Kathryn, and their children, Reed and Brooke.
